DashDAQ Competitors

Many people look at some of our competitors products and think that they are getting a better deal based on price alone. Some may have a lower retail price, but they deliver less in terms of performance, capabilities, resolution, expansion, and overall value.

We are going to compare several devices that claim to offer similar functionality to DashDAQ. We will break the features down based on data from each manufacturer's website and literature into the following sections:

  • Screen Resolution and Color
  • Hardware Features
  • Expansion Capability
  • GPS Navigation Support

Screen Resolution and Color

A dashboard display is seen by all passengers every time you drive your vehicle, so it is important to have a good looking device with a color screen that has enough resolution to display the information you actually want to see.

Look at the total number of Pixels on DashDAQ compared to other leading devices. Devices that use the lowest resolution display can only display 1/16th of the readable information on screen that a DashDAQ can.

Hardware Features

While the most important part of a dashboard system might seem like the display, the the hardware that runs the display is just as important. A great display is nothing without a powerful and flexible system collecting data, recording, and displaying that information.

DashDAQ is the only system listed that uses the Linux operating system. This OS is well developed and open source, enabling developers to write their own programs for DashDAQ. DashDAQ also supports all OBD2 vehicles, has the widest operating temperature for automotive use, and the most computing power.

Expansion

When you make an investment in a dashboard system, you want one that can continue to meet your needs as you increase your vehicle's performance. The DashDAQ supports analog sensors, serially connected data acquisition systems, USB devices, and many other 3rd party EFI systems. None of the other systems give you as many connection options.

Navigation

Using a dashboard data logger AND a GPS navigation device in the same car can clutter up wires and block your view of the road. DashDAQ integrates the two, offering a GPS navigation option with turn-by-turn directions. Only DashDAQ and the Edge A2 offer these two features together.

Summary

DashDAQ offers more now and into the future than any of the other devices compared. Although it's not the least expensive device we looked at, it's not the most expensive either. By the time you buy 2-3 of the less expensive dash displays to get the data display capabilities of DashDAQ, you have exceeded the DashDAQ price and still don't get all of the features.
